Benefits |
| Rugged Design Standards |
For use in extreme conditions, the BlueTree 5600 is designed to meet the special operating requirements for both mobile installations and fixed industrial applications. Tested by an independent laboratory to ensure that military and automotive standards for reliability and durability are met, this rugged modem withstands the demands of vibration, temperature, shock and humidity in harsh
environments. |
| Unique GPS Features |
The BlueTree 5600 wireless modem has two unique
capabilities. One feature allows the modem to send the GPS position of the modem over the wireless network to a host server and as well as to a mobile computer that is attached to the modem with off-the-shelf or custom mapping software. The second feature, providing standalone GPS capability, leverages the embedded intelligence and programming capabilities of the modem to collect, store and forward GPS position data, without the need to attach a computing device. The modems can also manage the reporting of GPS data when in and out of wireless coverage to ensure customers have accurate tracking data. |
| Multiple Interfaces: Serial, USB & Ethernet |
The RS-232 (DB9) serial interface allows the BlueTree 5600 modem to connect to any data terminal equipment using a standard cable. The USB interface allows for connectivity to a like computing device using a standard USB adapter cable. With a standard network cross-over cable the BlueTree 5600 can connect to an Ethernet computing device. |
| Easy Upgrade from Legacy CDPD Networks |
To simplify upgrading from CDPD networks and to protect the investment in existing technology, the BlueTree's GPS 5600 modem has interface connectors that support legacy wireless data systems. These power and antenna connectors match those in the field, in most instances. The benefits are reduced installation, deployment and accessory costs to the customer. |
| Integrated 12-Channel GPS Receiver |
The embedded, ultra-low power Trimble LassenT GPS receiver in the BlueTree 5400 supports TAIP and NMEA 0183 message protocols. It features 12-channel simultaneous operation with Dual Sensitivity modes and automatic switching for improved GPS accuracy. This feature makes this wireless modem ideal for deployment in Public Safety and First Responders applications as well as in Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL), Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and field service automation applications. Used to track the geographic location of vehicles, assets are better managed and safety of personnel is increased. |
| Improved Coverage Reliability |
The GPS 5600 incorporates a second cellular antenna connector that improves receiver sensitivity by up to 3dB on both 800 MHz and 1900 MHz bands, resulting in increased connectivity, coverage and reliability. |
| Fleet Management & Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) Features |
By leveraging the event reporting mechanism of the GPS 5600, the following alerts can be sent by the modem to the remote application server:
- Excessive Speed Notification
- Engine Idling Notification
- Heading Change Notification
- On-demand GPS Query |
| Inputs & Outputs for Remote Management and Event Reporting |
Sensors can be connected to the I/O port of the GPS 5600 modem (4 digital inputs, 3 digital outputs and 3 analog inputs). This allows fleet management and public safety applications to remotely trigger an output of the modem to turn ON or OFF peripheral equipment. The modem has the capability to monitor its digital input sensors for any change in state, and send a report to a remote server based on an event trigger (such as a panic button or ignition ON/OFF). The analog inputs allow monitoring of gradient data sources (such as a temperature sensor and low voltage indication). The modem has an intuitive embedded Event Reporting Protocol that automatically formats the messages reported to the remote server. |
| BlueVue Management Software |
By combining the power of graphical client software with the embedded intelligence inside the modem's firmware, the BlueTree 5600 can easily be configured, monitored and managed using a local cable connection or a remote wireless data connection. |
